30-Minute Rolls

Nothing beats the smell of freshly baked rolls, especially when they only take 30 minutes from start to finish! These soft and fluffy rolls are perfect for any meal, whether you’re serving them at a family dinner, holiday gathering, or just as a snack with butter. The dough is simple to make, combining warm water, yeast, and a bit of sugar for a light and airy texture. The addition of an egg gives the rolls a beautiful golden color and a soft, tender crumb. These rolls bake up in no time, making them ideal when you need homemade bread in a hurry. They can be served alongside soups, stews, or any dish that benefits from a warm, comforting bread. With just a few basic ingredients, you’ll have delicious rolls ready to enjoy in less than 30 minutes.

Ingredients (Serves 12):
• 1 cup plus 2 tablespoons warm water
• ⅓ cup oil
• 2 tablespoons active dry yeast
• ¼ cup sugar
• ½ teaspoon salt
• 1 egg
• 3½ cups flour (bread flour or all-purpose)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In the bowl of your stand mixer, combine warm water, oil, yeast, and sugar. Let the mixture rest for 15 minutes to activate the yeast.
  3. Mix in 2 cups of flour, salt, and the egg into the yeast mixture using a dough hook. Add the remaining 1½ cups of flour, ½ cup at a time, until the dough comes together.
  4. Shape the dough into 12 balls and place them in a 9×13 pan. Let the dough rest for 10 minutes.
  5. Bake for 10 minutes or until the tops are golden brown.

Nutritional Insight & Dietary Notes:
These rolls are soft, fluffy, and lightly sweetened. The oil adds a bit of richness, while the yeast helps achieve that perfect rise, giving you a light texture that pairs well with any meal. While these rolls are delicious, they are high in carbohydrates and may not be suitable for low-carb or gluten-free diets. If you’re looking for a healthier alternative, you could try substituting some of the white flour with whole wheat flour or experimenting with other types of flour for a different texture and flavor.
