Baked Apple Fritters

Ingredients:

IngredientQuantity
All-purpose flour2 cups
Granulated sugar1/3 cup
Baking powder2 teaspoons
Salt1/2 teaspoon
Ground cinnamon1 teaspoon
Ground nutmeg1/4 teaspoon
Whole milk1/2 cup
Large eggs2
Vanilla extract1 teaspoon
Unsalted butter, melted3 tablespoons
Peeled and chopped apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)2 cups
Light brown sugar, packed1/4 cup

For the Glaze:

IngredientQuantity
Powdered sugar1 cup
Milk2–3 tablespoons
Vanilla extract1/2 teaspoon

Instructions:

Step 1: Preheat Oven
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking.

Step 2: Mix Dry Ingredients
In a large bowl, whisk together flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg until evenly combined.

Step 3: Mix Wet Ingredients
In another bowl, whisk together milk, eggs, vanilla extract, and melted butter until smooth and well-blended.

Step 4: Combine Mixtures
Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients and stir gently until just combined. Be careful not to overmix, or the fritters may become dense.

Step 5: Add Apples and Brown Sugar
Fold in the chopped apples and brown sugar until evenly distributed throughout the batter.

Step 6: Form Fritters
Using a spoon or small cookie scoop, drop heaping spoonfuls of batter onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart. Lightly flatten each mound with the back of your spoon.

Step 7: Bake
Bake for 15–18 minutes, or until the fritters are golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

Step 8: Make the Glaze
While the fritters cool, whisk together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract in a medium bowl until smooth and pourable.

Step 9: Glaze the Fritters
Once the fritters have cooled slightly, drizzle the glaze generously over the tops. Let it set for a few minutes before serving.

Step 10: Serve and Enjoy
Enjoy these warm, soft, and cinnamon-sweet baked apple fritters fresh from the oven—they’re the perfect comfort food without the deep fryer!
