Fried Cabbage Bliss: Bacon, Onion, Garlic Symphony

Fried Cabbage Bliss Bacon, Onion, Garlic Symphony

This recipe holds a special place in our family tradition, finding its way into the cherished cookbooks passed on to my children upon leaving the nest. It’s a visually appealing dish, bursting with vibrant colors and rich flavors. A word of caution: its irresistibility is hard to resist.

Ingredients:

  • 6 slices of bacon, finely chopped
  • 1 large onion, finely diced
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1 large head of cabbage, cored and thinly sliced
  • 1 tablespoon of salt, or to taste
  • 1 teaspoon of ground black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon of onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon of garlic powder
  • 1/8 teaspoon of paprika

Instructions:

  1. In a large stockpot, cook the bacon over medium-high heat until it becomes crispy, approximately 10 minutes.
  2. Add the diced onion and minced garlic to the pot, stirring until the onion caramelizes, about 10 minutes.
  3. Immediately introduce the sliced cabbage to the pot, continuing to cook and stir for an additional 10 minutes.
  4. Add a flavorful touch to the mixture by incorporating salt, pepper, onion powder, garlic powder, and paprika.
  5. Reduce the heat to low, cover, and let it simmer, stirring occasionally, for approximately 30 more minutes.

Tip: Utilize aluminum foil to keep the food moist, ensure even cooking, maintain freshness for leftovers, and simplify the cleaning process.
