Main Ingredients

Ingredient Quantity
Lo mein noodles or spaghetti 12 oz
Ground beef 1 lb
Vegetable or sesame oil 2 tbsp
Medium onion, thinly sliced 1
Garlic cloves, minced 2
Carrots, julienned 1 cup
Cabbage, shredded or coleslaw mix 2 cups
Red bell pepper, thinly sliced 1
Green onions, chopped 3

Sauce Ingredients

Ingredient Quantity
Low-sodium soy sauce 1/3 cup
Oyster sauce (optional) 2 tbsp
Hoisin sauce (or extra soy sauce) 1 tbsp
Sesame oil 2 tsp
Brown sugar or honey 1 tbsp
Beef broth or water 1/4 cup
Ground black pepper 1/2 tsp
Cornstarch 1 tsp

Instructions

Step 1: Cook the Noodles
Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook the noodles according to package instructions until al dente. Drain, rinse with cold water, and set aside.

Step 2: Brown the Beef
Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and cook for 5–6 minutes, breaking it apart as it browns. Drain any excess grease if needed and set the beef aside on a plate.

Step 3: Sauté the Vegetables
In the same skillet, add the remaining oil. Stir in the onion, garlic, carrots, cabbage, and bell pepper. Cook 4–5 minutes until the vegetables are tender but still crisp.

Step 4: Prepare the Sauce
In a small bowl, whisk together all sauce ingredients until smooth.

Step 5: Combine Everything
Return the cooked beef to the skillet. Add the noodles and pour in the sauce. Toss everything together over medium heat for 2–3 minutes, allowing the sauce to thicken slightly and coat the noodles evenly.

Step 6: Serve and Enjoy
Sprinkle chopped green onions on top and serve hot. This quick, homemade Ground Beef Lo Mein is ready to satisfy your cravings!
