Instructions

Step 1: Brown the Beef
Heat the olive oil in a large pot or Dutch oven over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and cook until browned and broken up into small pieces. Drain off any excess grease.

Step 2: Sauté the Veggies
Add the bell peppers, onion, and jalapeños to the pot. Reduce the heat slightly and cook until the vegetables soften and become fragrant.

Step 3: Mix Everything Together
Stir in the beans, crushed tomatoes, chili powder, cumin, and chopped cilantro. Mix thoroughly so all ingredients are evenly combined.

Step 4: Let It Simmer
Lower the heat and allow the chili to simmer for at least 30 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking and to help the flavors come together. Add a splash of water if the chili becomes too thick.

Step 5: Season and Serve
Taste and adjust with salt, black pepper, and hot sauce as desired. Serve hot with your favorite toppings such as shredded cheese, sour cream, chopped onions, or extra fresh cilantro.
