There’s something undeniably comforting about coming home to the aroma of a slow-cooked meal—especially when it’s creamy, savory, and ready to serve over your favorite pasta. This Slow Cooker Angel Chicken is the perfect answer to weeknights when you’re short on time but craving something warm, filling, and full of flavor. It takes only a few minutes to prepare and then you can walk away while the slow cooker works its magic.
This recipe has become a go-to in my household because it checks all the boxes: it’s rich, easy to throw together, and family-approved. The creamy sauce, made with cream cheese, butter, and cream of chicken soup, coats the tender chicken beautifully. Add in the zesty punch from the dry Italian dressing mix, and you’ve got a dish that tastes like you fussed all day—even though you didn’t. It’s a fantastic option for busy families, meal preppers, or anyone who loves a no-fuss dinner that doesn’t skimp on flavor.
Serve this dreamy chicken over angel hair pasta, rice, or even mashed potatoes to soak up every drop of that velvety sauce. And don’t be surprised if it becomes a regular request at your dinner table!
Ingredients (Serves 6)
1.5 pounds boneless, skinless chicken breasts
3 cloves garlic, chopped or left whole
10.5 ounces cream of chicken soup (undiluted)
¾ cup chicken stock
4 ounces cream cheese
¼ cup butter
0.6 ounces dry Italian dressing mix (such as Good Seasons)
1 pound angel hair pasta
Instructions
Spray the inside of the slow cooker with nonstick cooking spray.
Place the chicken breasts in the bottom of the cooker and add the garlic.
Soften the butter and cream cheese in the microwave, then whisk until smooth.
Add the cream of chicken soup, chicken stock, and dry Italian dressing mix to the mixture. Whisk again until fully blended.
Pour the sauce over the chicken in the slow cooker.
Cover and cook on low for 6 to 8 hours.
(Optional) About 30 minutes before serving, shred the chicken with two forks and return it to the sauce.
Just before the chicken is finished, cook the angel hair pasta according to package instructions and drain.
Serve the chicken and sauce over the pasta.
Nutritional and Dietary Notes
This recipe delivers a hearty helping of protein thanks to the chicken and provides a creamy, satisfying texture from the dairy-based sauce. While delicious, it is rich and contains saturated fats from the cream cheese and butter, making it more indulgent than everyday fare. Those following a low-sodium or dairy-free diet should consider modifications, such as using low-sodium soup and stock, or a plant-based cream cheese alternative. This dish is naturally free from nuts and eggs but does include gluten unless gluten-free pasta and soup substitutes are used.
