Slow Cooker Steak Soup

There’s something about a slow-cooked beef soup that takes us right back to cozy childhood memories. This steak soup recipe is inspired by the kind of meals that feel like a hug in a bowl—warm, savory, and deeply satisfying. With tender chunks of sirloin, rich broth, and comforting pasta, this soup is hearty enough to serve as a full dinner. It’s ideal for busy days when you want something homemade but don’t want to fuss in the kitchen all evening. You can set it up in the morning, go about your day, and come home to a meal that’s ready to enjoy.

This dish also holds up well as leftovers, making it perfect for weekly meal prep. The dry onion soup mix, a nostalgic pantry staple for many, gives the broth an extra depth of flavor without needing dozens of spices. You can pair this soup with a crusty loaf of bread, sprinkle on some shredded cheese, or top with a few fresh herbs or green onions for added flair. Whether you’re feeding the whole family or making it just for yourself, this slow cooker steak soup will warm your belly and your heart.

Slow Cooker Homestyle Steak Soup
Ingredients (Serves 6–8)
2 pounds (1 kg) sirloin tip steak, cut into 1-inch cubes
1/4 cup (35 g) all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
1 ounce (28 g) dry onion soup mix
2 quarts (roughly 2 liters) beef broth
2 tablespoons tomato paste
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
2 cups ditalini pasta (about 200 g), cooked according to package directions

Directions
Place the cubed steak, flour, salt, and pepper into the slow cooker and stir until the meat is evenly coated.
Add the dry onion soup mix, beef broth, tomato paste, and Worcestershire sauce. Stir everything together.
Cover and cook on low for 8 hours, allowing the meat to become tender and the flavors to develop.
About 15 to 20 minutes before serving, stir in the cooked ditalini pasta. Cover again and cook just until the pasta is heated through.
Ladle into bowls and serve hot. Garnish with fresh herbs or cheese if desired.

Nutritional and Dietary Information
This soup offers a solid amount of protein thanks to the steak, and the broth contributes valuable minerals. The pasta adds comforting carbs, making this a well-rounded meal. However, the recipe includes gluten (from both flour and pasta), so those with gluten sensitivities should use appropriate substitutes. It’s also moderately high in sodium due to the soup mix and broth, which could be adjusted with low-sodium versions for those watching salt intake.
